May I present to you.... HARRY OTTER! *insert hp theme song here*
Finished for the Scholastic Art Competition with 42 minutes to spare! I think its my finest procrastination job yet.
So, this is my third scratchboard, this time of a lovely otter whose photo was taken by B-F-G [link] (thank you!)
I hope you like it! I nearly stabbed myself with the exacto knife midway through and cursed myself and existence multiple times, but here he is, finished, after about a year, Harry Otter!
Enjoy. (:

completely amazing! It's a very real looking otter and I love the harry potter theme very original. I also love the wet affect on the fur, very affective. The wand and glasses make the whole drawing look cuter! This artwork appeal to animal fans and harry potter fans and I love this artworks overall impact an appeal The artist who drew this is incredibly talented I hope that one day I will be able to draw something this amazing!!!! I really hope this artist does more artwork like this super super cute otter in which case I will defiantly be faving it
I thought this was an amazing pencil work at first until I saw the word "scratch board". After looking up what scratch board was I'm a bit shocked and even more impressed. I remember a similar medium back in high school---colored paper that had a layer of black coating that you etched off---and no one was skilled enough to create anything amazing out of it. You used scratch board and made me speechless!
This piece has incredible detail. Everything from the wood grain in the wand, the reflectiveness of the glasses, and the little things like the texture on the otter's nose. The fur is perhaps the most impressive of all the details. Fur is hard to convey in a lot of art mediums. The fur is realistic and looks like its wet. The fact that its etched rather than drawn make it even more impressive.
Its almost a simple piece---an otter with Harry Potter glasses and a wizard's wand---but yet its complicated with all the little intricate details. And I love the concept of Harry Potter as an otter and find it funny.
How awesome! Love the title. I have a graphite I did of an otter reclining titled "Otter Take a Break" and people just don't get it. Too obscure I suppose. But I digress, very nice. I am in awe of what can be done with scratchboard and hope your fingers stay intact so you can continue to create more of these sort of fab pieces.
